Base Migration

TL;DR - On September 29th 2025 we are migrating from Ethereum/Polygon to Base. We will cover minting/airdropping the collection to current Unikura NFT holders, so no action is required.

What’s happening?

To welcome more collectors to Unikura.xyz, we’re migrating from Ethereum and Polygon to the Base. This move will unlock key features for all types of collectors, helping us bring more collectibles onchain and making your collection accessible to a wider audience.

When is it happening?

The migration is scheduled for September 29, 2025. Once it’s complete, we’ll share updates via Telegram and email.

Do I need to do anything?

Don't worry, No action is required on your end. Our team will take care of the entire process to make sure the migration goes smoothly. New NFTs bound to ownership, with the same token id as the old NFTs, will be airdropped all at once on Base.

Why migrate to Base?

1. Low-cost & High-speed Transactions

   • Gas fees are significantly lower than on Ethereum, and compared to Polygon, Base offers a more stable low-cost environment with faster processing. This reduces the cost of minting, trading, and transferring NFTs, resulting in a smoother user experience.

2. Compatibility with the Coinbase Ecosystem

   • Base is a chain developed by Coinbase, which enables seamless integration with Coinbase Wallet and the exchange. In particular, Base is rapidly increasing its use cases and transaction volume in end-user-focused dApps.

3. Security & Ecosystem Scalability

   • At Unikura, we safeguard users’ collectible assets. This is why we originally started on Ethereum, but it proved to be a heavy infrastructure for trading more affordable collectibles. Base inherits Ethereum’s security as an L2, which was a key reason for our choice. Moreover, as part of the Optimism Superchain vision, Base is expected to make interoperability with other L2s and connections with new dApps easier in the future.

The existing ETH/POL Unikura.xyz NFTs will be updated with new images, deactivated, and made non-transferable. Below is a preview of the new image:
